With Christmas over and all the leftovers finished, it always feels like a long slog between the beginning of the new year and the start to some warmer weather and longer days. It’s bloomin’ freezing, the mornings are cold and dark, we’re all doing our best to diet (and hating it) and most people’s bank balances are looking less than healthy. So, here are Walkers Windows tips on how to cheer yourself up this January…

Invest in new double-glazing
Ok, so this is predictable coming from a double-glazing company, eh? However, it’s a sure way to warm up your home and lower your energy bills! Imagine waking up and not having to use extra energy to put the heating on because your new A-rated windows from Walkers have kept the cold out over night – plus, it makes that cold run from your cosy be to the shower a little more bearable!

Cosy up with a book
A sure way to kick the January blues is to snuggle up on your sofa and lose yourself in a book. Whether you choose to escape into a world a fiction and fantasy or scrub up on your knowledge with some fact or an autobiography, you’ll soon forget the murky weather outside and be transported somewhere new. For added comfort, just add a blanket, some candles and a hot drink of your choice (hot chocolate is highly recommended).

Spruce up your home
January isn’t usually the healthiest month for our bank accounts as Christmas has all but drained our money and, for most, there’s a five week wait before next pay day – which means you tend to end up spending a lot more time indoors and less time at the pub or eating out. So, if you’re spending more time in your home, you want it to be somewhere you enjoy being. Having a clear out of old clothes and nick-nacks and doing something as simple as having a furniture change in some of your rooms can make your home feel fresh, new and somewhere you look forward to spending your time. If you do have any spare pennies, head out to the January sales and grab some bargains to add something new.

Fun nights in
Just because you’re not going out as much this month doesn’t mean you have to sit at home alone. Have friends over, cook dinner, play silly party games and watch movies at home. There’s loads of ways to entertain a group of friends or family so grab some popcorn, download some party games apps to your phone and pop on a movie channel. Plus, there’s loads of cheap ways to cater for everyone, whether you grab a takeaway or do some home cooking and hey, you can show off you new scrubbed up home!

Hit the gym
Ok, this may not sound so appealing to begin with but there’s nothing more refreshing and uplifting that exercise. Whether you’re in the mood or not, when you come back you’ll feel great. Whether you go to the gym, exercise at home or go outdoors for a run, jog or walk you’re guaranteed to feel good afterwards. Plus – what better way to kick start your 2016 fitness resolution!
