Thermal efficiency

When it comes to heat efficiency, a Distinction Glass Re-enforced Plastic (GRP) composite door is the best option. Our doors are up to 19% more thermally efficient than a 48mm solid timber core composite door, and up to 17% more thermally efficient than a 44mm traditional timber panelled door.

What’s the difference between a composite door and a uPVC door?

A uPVC door is simply plastic. A composite door is made from a clever combination of materials including GRP and a CFC-polyurethane foam core.

At 44mm thick, our doors are almost double the standard thickness of a uPVC door (28mm). That gives them a big boost on heat efficiency.

Overall, they’re the most weather-resistant and low maintenance of all the front door types.
