    Triple glazing

Is it worth upgrading from double to triple glazing?

    What is triple glazing?

Triple glazing works by securing three panes of glass within a sealed window frame. The gaps between each pane are filled with Argon, an insulating gas, which enhances the window’s ability to retain heat. Our triple glazed windows achieve an A++ WER and extremely low U-values of just 0.8 W/m2K, so you will benefit from a warmer home and lower energy bills when you invest in triple glazed windows for your home.

Not only is triple glazing more energy efficient, but the extra pane of glass, and the additional Argon-filled space between panes, will improve soundproofing in your home. Triple glazing works so well at reducing noise because of the number of layers the sound has to travel through, with each pane of glass weakening the strength of the sound wave. This means that by the time noise does get through, it is much quieter and much less noticeable.

    Do I need triple glazing?

You might want to consider triple glazing if:

    • You live somewhere that suffers from extreme weather, like very cold winters.
    • Your property is exposed to the elements, for example, is situated on the coast.
    • You live somewhere noisy like near an airport, school, or train station, and want better acoustic insulation.
    • You want to further reduce your energy bills. Triple glazing provides even lower U-values than double glazing.

    Low-E glazing

    What is Low-E glass?

We use Low-E glazing as standard in all of our installations, but what is Low-E glass and what benefits does it have to you as a homeowner?

Low-E glass has enabled the glazing industry to innovate and develop products that make our homes and buildings more comfortable, energy efficient, and full of natural light. Low E means ‘Low Emissivity’. Emissivity is defined as the amount of radiation emitted or absorbed from a surface.

The main difference between a Low E glass and an ordinary glass is that Low E glass has a very thin coating applied to one side of the glass. This enables a reduction in the transfer of heat or cold through the glass. Think of it as an invisible insulation barrier for your windows.

What are the benefits of Low-E glass?

    • A Low-E coating will keep unwanted UV rays out of your home. These harmful rays can damage your furniture through fading and discolouring over time.
    • It helps regulate the temperature of your home and keeps rooms at a comfortable temperature
    • Low-E coated windows can help reduce the formation of condensation
    • Low-E coated windows are more energy efficient and can help save you money on your energy bills

Decorative glazing for homes in Huddersfield and beyond

At Walkers, we offer a variety of glazing designs and patterns to suit any style of home. Our decorative glazing options include:

Stained glass windows – Stained glass windows incorporate beautiful coloured patterns and designs to replicate heritage designs used on older properties.

Leaded glass windows – Leaded bars can be styled in a variety of designs, including diamonds, a grid and even bespoke patterns, and look particularly fitting on heritage styles such as vertical sliding windows.

Patterned glass windows – Beautiful patterns can be printed in a number of obscured styles and textures for a perfect combination of privacy and natural light. Popular styles include Warwick and Autumn.

Frosted glass windows – This glazing style has a softened appearance which allows enough natural light to enter to brighten the room, whilst ensuring you can keep your privacy. It looks like a thin layer of frost is covering the window.

Bevelled glass windows – Beveled glass is made by taking thick glass and creating an angled surface cut around the edge. Bevels act as prisms in sunlight creating an interesting color diffraction.

Etched glass windows – Etched glass combines obscured sections of glass with normal glazing, creating a beautifully unique finish.
