We elected to replace our frames with uPVC sliding sash windows which maintain the look and operation of the original windows, while removing the problems of draughts and the constant need for maintenance.
We chose the Agate Grey colour as it looked like a Heritage colour and you would struggle to the know the frames were uPVC as the graining is so convincing.
We paired the windows with Walkers’ composite doors. I think the front door with the reeded glass really suits the property and the back door looks like it’s been there for years.
We were really pleased with all the staff at Walkers. Allan, the rep, was helpful and knowledgeable and put us under no pressure. Our surveyor, Phil, knew even more than Allan and spent over an hour discussing every option with my husband. Phil managed to measure the windows in such a way that all our internal timber linings were retained – so we managed to maintain the feature and we had minimal decorating to do.
The fitters, Paul and Luke, were on time and courteous and got the job done with very little mess. It only took 4 days to complete.
We couldn’t be happier
We have the windows since November 2024. We felt a significant difference in the house temperature over the winter and everyone who has come to the house has commented on the windows.
